Tyres and servicing
The legal minimum tread depth for car tyres in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, but grip in the wet drops well before that. If your tyres are getting close, a Black Friday offer is a good reason to replace them before winter rather than wait. Compare tyres using their label, which grades fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise.
You can have an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before your current one runs out and keep the same renewal date, so a discounted MOT in November doesn't cost you any time on your certificate.
Parking and car hire
Airport parking is usually cheapest booked well ahead, and Black Friday sales often cover travel dates well into next year. For car hire, check the fuel policy and the insurance excess. Standalone excess cover bought in advance is often cheaper than the cover offered at the rental desk.
