Buy the big presents early
The most wanted toys can sell out well before Christmas. If a particular set or toy is on your list and the Black Friday price is fair, buying it then is often safer than waiting for a lower price that may never come. Smaller gifts and stocking fillers can wait.
Buying safely
The British Toy & Hobby Association has repeatedly found unsafe toys sold by third-party sellers on online marketplaces, including some with small parts or loose button batteries. Buying from established toy retailers or the brand's own shop is the safest option, especially for younger children.
Check age ranges and batteries
Age guidance on toys is about safety as well as skill, so take it seriously for under-threes. And check whether batteries are included, so nothing is left unopened on Christmas morning.
